Duane Dedman

Duane joined Reviewed and Cleared in February 2020.  During the previous 15 years, Duane worked for a number of high profile UK-based broadcasters including UKTV, Sky and BT. In all these roles, Duane relished working collaboratively with brands, broadcasters and production companies to help achieve their commercial and editorial goals. Before working directly for broadcasters, Duane worked at Clearcast for 2 years, reviewing and approving advertising on behalf of UK broadcasters.

As well as advising on editorial matters across all genres (such as consent, duty of care, harm & offence and ‘blue siren’ formats), Duane’s area of specialism is commercial compliance, particularly the opportunities product placement, programme sponsorship and competitions/voting can bring to both brands and content producers.

At BT, Duane advised the editorial teams and BT’s production partners across all programming, from live events to the award-winning BT Sport film strand as well as regulatory compliance (for content and platform issues) & editorial ethical matters, drafting and revising BT’s editorial policy. Duane has also successfully defended many formal Ofcom investigations following viewer/competitor complaints.
