Sean McTernan

Before joining Reviewed & Cleared, Sean ran his own specialist media law firm for 16 years, advising a range of television production companies and publishers on pre-publication matters. He has worked as a night lawyer for the BBC, The IndependentSunday Telegraph and Sunday Times and continues to spend time at the coalface, advising journalists and editors in newsrooms.

Between 1985 and 1999 Sean was employed in-house at the BBC as a litigator covering media, employment and commercial matters, and then as a pre-publication adviser. In addition to news output, he was closely involved with drama, documentary and comedy. He has also worked in-house at Carlton and United International Pictures, and has advised many publishers on legal issues in books and magazines.

Sean trained as a mediator with the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution and mediated on issues ranging from television programme format disputes to local neighbour problems. He has lectured on media law within the media industry and educational establishments, including a recent spell at Essex University.
