Ralph Engelhard
Ralph Engelhard has many decades of experience in both the broadcast production and regulatory compliance arenas. The latter includes work for Sky Television, NBC and ITV, where for more than a decade he was Head of Daytime Compliance.
Alongside Duane Dedman and Alex Cort, Ralph works in Reviewed and Cleared’s Compliance team, helping content makers navigate the often complex regulatory landscape to ensure productions reach their planned audience and maximise revenues.
While knowledgeable in all areas of broadcast regulation, Ralph specialises in advising on content suitability related to scheduling, commercial references including sponsorship, product and prop placement, fairness and privacy, as well as competitions and premium rate services. Ralph brings an empathetic approach to programme makers, enabling him to suggest compliance edits that will both maintain a programme’s integrity and minimise any artistic impact.
Beyond the world of compliance, Ralph enjoys photography, a passion that began when he was given his first camera when just ten years old. Throughout his teenage years Ralph would spend countless hours developing and printing his photographs in a darkroom in a converted Second World War air raid shelter. Ralph's love of imagery evolved into film making, leading to a career that began in editing and led to roles in film and television production.
Ralph's other big passion is aviation. He holds a private pilot's licence, and whenever the sun is shining he'll be found flying his 'plane across the skies of the UK and beyond.
