Ro Cordrey

Ro is a highly regarded media lawyer with extensive experience across the industry – including television, film, publishing and online content.  She is an expert in providing legal, regulatory and reputational advice at every stage of production, broadcast and publication.

Ro is known for her work on some of the most complex, contentious and acclaimed programmes in the business.  At Channel 4 her work included Russell Brand: In Plain Sight, Partygate, Politicians for Hire, 24 Hours in Police Custody, Late Night Lycett, Derry Girls, Gogglebox, It’s A Sin, The Circle, Hunted, The Island with Bear Grylls, Dispatches and Unreported World.  At ITN, Ro worked on the BAFTA award-winning Cambridge Analytica undercover investigation for Channel 4 News, and advised the newsrooms on daily content (Channel 4 News, ITV News, C5 News).

Ro was most recently a Senior Lawyer in the Legal & Compliance team at Channel 4.  She worked across all genres and was also the principal Legal & Compliance lawyer to the News & Current Affairs Investigations Unit as well as the Entertainment Team.  Ro was seconded to the Policy & Public Affairs team for six months in 2023, while the future of Channel 4 was under the spotlight.  Ro has also worked at Viacom as the VP, Head of Content Legal & Compliance (UKNEE), at ITN as the Deputy Head of Compliance and at the BBC where she was a solicitor in BBC Litigation.

Ro began her career at leading law firm Farrer & Co, where she qualified in 2009 and primarily advised defendant media clients, including tabloid newspapers and magazine publishers.  She has significant experience of high profile media litigation, including the ‘phone hacking’ litigation.
